Arvis graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan, in 1944. She married the love of her life, Robert Kenney, in 1946, and together they built a beautiful life. As a devoted homemaker, Arvis spent many years raising her children. Once her children were older, she worked as a secretary at various local schools.
Arvis was an active and dedicated member of Holt United Methodist Church. She had many hobbies that reflected her creative and caring nature. She loved sewing, knitting, and crochet, and she spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. A talented artist, she also enjoyed China painting and working alongside her husband to create stunning stained-glass lamps.
Arvis loved spending time fishing. She was an avid reader, always with a book in hand, and she was known for her love of cooking and baking. Her home was often filled with the delicious aromas of her homemade meals and treats. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, with beautiful roses and zinnias being among her favorite flowers.
She also had a fondness for shopping, and her sense of style was always evident in her thoughtful choices.
Arvis was the beloved wife of the late Robert Edward Kenney; loving mother of Judy Ann (late Robert) Preston, Tom Edward (late Sherrel) Kenney and the late Sandra Kay Frincke; cherished grandmother of Amy Rebecca Ouko, Jacqueline Monnette, James Edward Kenney and the late Charles Robert Preston; great grandmother of Holly Ann Neighbors, Emma Grace Kenney, Margaret Ouko, Milo Jameson Kenney, Connor Monnette and Olivia Monnette; dear sister of Douglas (Linda) Felzke and the late Helen Mann, Don Felzke, Barbara Gibbs and Beverly James; and a fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Arvis will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 3:00 pm with a visitation one hour prior at Holt United Methodist Church 2321 Aurelius Rd. Holt, MI 48842.
