I want to express my sincere condolences to Kevin and his and Annie's families.  I will be sending to her school a donation as requested, so that they can purchase the school supplies they need. May she rest in peace.

My oldest daughter, Evelyn, had Ms. Jazz for her second grade teacher. Ms. Jazz was so kind and supportive of Evelyn and quickly became her absolute favorite teacher. As a third grader, Evelyn would often go back and have lunch with Ms. Jazz, which she was always so excited to do. Our family is heartbroken over the news of her passing and offer our deepest condolences to her family and friends.

My daughter Ava had Ms. Jazz as her 2nd grade teacher, and she quickly became Ava's favorite teacher because of her kindness and support. I had several direct interactions with Ms. Jazz while applying for a program for Ava. She was always incredibly patient and responsive to any information I requested and generously offered a letter of support, even though she wasn't obligated to. As a racial minority in Haslett, we often feel not belonging, but Ms. Jazz has made us feel truly welcomed and accepted in the community. We feel so blessed to have her as Ava's teacher. It is heart-wrenching to hear this news. What a great loss to the world. She will be missed by so many!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Annie when she was five-years old and joined my kindergarten class. Even then, she radiated kindness and  demonstrated a love of learning. I was pleased to learn years later  that she was studying education at Western Michigan University. There was no doubt in my mind that she would be a wonderful teacher. And she was! I had the pleasure of observing in Annie's classroom at Cole Academy, and she was an exceptional teacher! Her students benefited from her organization and her commitment to providing the best possible instruction to each and every one of them. Students thrived in her classroom! Over her years in education, Annie touched many lives. She will be greatly missed!

Mrs Jazz will truly be missed. She was my sons second grade teacher and what we will remember is how kind, patient, and giving she was with her time.  It’s obvious how great she was with how much her students adore her. My son would often ask to stop by her classroom after kids connection pickup, and I would tell him “she may not be able to talk right now” but she always made time.  Her passing is tragic but she will live on in the hearts and memories  of every student she has impacted.

Mrs. Jazz was my oldest son’s 2nd grade teacher. She was an amazing teacher but she was so much more than that - she became a  friend to our family. Our son would invite her to his soccer games and swim meets and I would tell her it was ok to tell him she couldn’t make it. She would tell me “I love to see my students doing what they love, I’ll be there!” - and she was.  She’d show up and cheer him on and give him a big hug at the end - and it always made his day. 

My youngest son is starting Kindergarden this year and for the longest time he’d tell people that he was “starting school and his teacher was Ms. Jazz!” We kept telling him he’d have to wait a few years. I told Annie this the last time I saw her and she laughed and said “send him to me now, I’m ready for him”. <3 

A close family member passed away this past year while my son was in 3rd grade and I was worried about him going to school the day after he found out the news. He said he wanted to go but he didn’t want anyone to know because he didn’t want to have to talk about it. But then he said “but actually can you tell Ms. Jazz so that if I get sad I can stop by her room for a hug?” Even when she was no longer his teacher, she was his safe place.

We are all going to miss Ms. Jazz terribly. I’m already dreading walking by her classroom next year. She was simply the best and we will never forget her.

My deepest sympathies go out to Mrs. Jazz's family and friends. This was a tough loss. My kiddos were at Cole Academy with her and when we made a school change to Haslett, they felt really good to see a familiar face. Such a beautiful person inside and out, we will miss her very much!

Miss Jazz was our daughter’s teacher this past year and she was such a dedicated and caring educator and positive force in her life.  She was always in her classroom long after the end of the school day and I was so impressed by how tirelessly she seemed to work.  I cannot believe that such a young light is now gone and that our son will be able to have her as a teacher.  She will be greatly missed but always remembered.  Our prayers are with all her family and friends during this difficult time.

Ms Jazz was my daughter 2nd Grade teacher, and I am thankful for that. Ms Jazz was so kind and loving to my daughter and always had the best way of carrying and showing love to all her students. I am very sorry and our condolences to her family. Ms Jazz will always be remembered.

Mrs. Jazz was my sons second grade teacher last year. She was so sweet, helpful and understanding. My son adored her and we were so sad and confused to hear of her passing. My younger son is disappointed that he doesn’t get to experience her as his teacher too because his brother talks about her and how amazing she was all the time. She definitely made a huge difference in all of our lives as a family and we will cherish her memory forever. My condolences to the family.

Annie was more than just a teacher; she was a beacon of warmth and positivity at Murphy Elementary School. Her infectious smile greeted everyone she met, and she approached every challenge with grace and determination. Annie's commitment to her students was unparalleled; she believed in each child's potential and worked tirelessly to provide them with the best possible education.

As a coworker, Annie was cherished for her collaborative spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand. Her colleagues remember her as someone who could always be counted on, not just for professional advice but also for friendship and camaraderie.

Beyond her roles as a teacher and coworker, Annie was a true friend to many. Her empathy and compassion touched the lives of all who crossed her path. She had a remarkable ability to uplift others and create a sense of belonging wherever she went.

Annie's passing leaves a void in our hearts and in the halls of Murphy Elementary School. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for her students will forever inspire us. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to guide and comfort all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Our family sends its deepest condolences on the loss of this beautiful young woman who we all remember from our son Edward’s class at STA and Lansing Catholic. There are no words to make sense of the loss of someone so young. We are truly sorry for your loss.

I went to Western Michigan University with Annie and have so many fun memories with her. From tailgate to concerts, we experienced a lot of fun events with our big group of friends. I am so devastated to hear of her passing and continue to pray for peace for her loved ones.

Ms. Jazz was a wonderful teacher and our family will miss her greatly.  She brought care and joy to the classroom for our son William. He was lucky to have her as a teacher going into second grade at Murphy, the first year she taught there. Ms. Jazz made time to watch William play soccer on a Saturday morning, talk sports with him daily, and helped to secure a prized football from his favorite MSU player. We will all miss her saying there is my "wondering William" as he walked the halls of Murphy.

When I think of Annie I can so clearly hear her hilarious, infectious laugh in my mind like she is in the room.  She was my Country music buddy when country wasn't cool.  When I think of Toby Keith and Taylor Swift concerts and high school tailgates, I think of Annie and those memories always make me smile. She left an imprint on my heart and will be very missed. 
My thoughts and prayers are with her family now and always.

I am so sorry to hear the world has lost Annie. I had the great pleasure of working with her for many years at Cole Academy. I got to see her grow from a strong teacher into a wonderfully supportive administrator. I loved her sense of humor and watching her work with children. She was a gem! May her family find peace and comfort from the support of their loved ones and faith.

Had the absolute pleasure of meeting Annie and Kevin during winter trips to Anna Marie Island while visiting my parents!  What a beautiful soul and couple.  The time with them, MaryAnn and Tim was so easy and fun.  Our deepest condolences to the entire family.  Will never understand the WHY but believe the heavens must of needed another angel.
