After giving pancreatic cancer a good run for its money, Andrew Joseph Schneider, 71, of Laingsburg, died Saturday, Mar. 5, 2022, peacefully at home. He was born on June 29, 1950, to Andrew E. Schneider and Rosaline A. Schneider (Lenneman) in St Johns, MI and resided in Fowler, MI. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; wife, Marlene Ann Schneider; grandson, Gavin; brother-law, Gus; and companion, Kemo. He is survived by his significant other, Tina Ballard; brothers, John (Gladys), Larry (Sharen), Francis (Janet), Tom (Sharon); children, James (Tamara), Timothy (Jill), Matthew Schneider, Kari (Toby) Dunn, and Tammy (Rob) Beckwith, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved dearly.
Andy proudly served in the Michigan Army National Guard, retiring after 26 years with his final assignment at Fort Custer Training Center in Augusta, MI. Sarcastic, quick-witted, and straight to the point, Andy would leave you with either a laugh or mouth agape. With four brothers and a handful of nephews, there was plenty of mischief for Andy to be involved in.
Andy was a true Spartan Athletics fan and always made time to attend the sporting events of his nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. He also had a love for classic cars, snowmobiles, and Harley-Davidsons, of which he owned a few. More important than the machines themselves was the comradery and time spent with friends and family while riding or attending car shows. When he wasn’t tending to his lawn or cleaning his toys, Andy could typically be found helping usher at his church, the Catholic Community of St. Jude in DeWitt, MI.
Andy is fondly remembered by his family, Tina, many relatives, friends, nurses, neighbors, and colleagues. Visitation for Andy will be held Monday, March 14, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823.
