Andrea passed away at age 86 on April the 2nd survived by her husband of 64 years, Gordon McDonald, three children, Daniel (Victoria), Dr. Veronica McDonald, and Gerald McDonald, Esq., as well as nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Andrea was born in Volx, Provence, France to Louis and Marguerite Alpe, the youngest of seven children. As a girl, she smuggled food and supplies to her brothers serving in the Resistance against Nazi occupation. As a young woman after the war, she moved to Edinburgh Scotland and worked at the Consulate, and then moved to London to work for 20th Century Fox studios, and as a domestic for the actor Jimmy Stewart.
While in London, she met and fell in love with her future husband, Gordon McDonald, and they were married in Rhode Island in 1951. They settled in Jackson Michigan, where they lived for 35 years. Upon retirement, they split time between Lake Miramichi in Michigan, and Sanford and later Deltona, Florida before settling at Burcham Hills in East Lansing Michigan.
She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. She enriched the lives of everyone she met.
There will be a memorial reception on Monday, April 6th at Burcham Hills from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Andrea's wishes were to be cremated.
