Wilmer B. Nadeau, 89, of Tolland, former longtime resident of East Hartford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 24th, 2013. Wilmer was the beloved husband of 56 years to the late Jeannette (Gurney) Nadeau. Wilmer was born in Waterville, ME, a son the late Gedeon and Albertine (Loubier) Nadeau.
Wilmer proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for many years.
Wilmer will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his great love for his family. He enjoyed working around the house and yard and tending to his flowers.
Wilmer will be greatly missed by his children; Dr. David Nadeau and his wife Mary of CA, Susan Hagenow and her husband John of ME, Stephen Nadeau, Gregory Nadeau and his wife Michelle, Karen Leitao and her husband Michael, and Michael Nadeau and his wife Becky, all of CT. Wilmer also leaves behind to cherish his memory his brothers Camille Nadeau and his wife Jeanne of CA, and Hermel Nadeau and his wife Ingrid of ME., 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Wilmer is predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Karas.
Friends and family are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, May 27th, from 6-8pm at Newkirk & Whitney/Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, May 28th at 10am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Rd., East Hartford. Burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 31st, 11am in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
