Virginia “Ginny” (Johnson) Lynch, 82, of East Hartford, peacefully passed away with her family be her side and reunited with her late husband of 55 years, Michael and son Stephen on Friday, July 12, 2024. Born on August 25, 1941, daughter of the late Herbert and Shirley (Bardin) Johnson, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Ginny was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1959, where she met the love of her life, her husband Michael. Prior to retirement, Ginny was a paraprofessional for the East Hartford Public Schools. Ginny was a member and President of both the Clowns of America Alley 107 and also for the Para Union of East Hartford Public Schools for many years. Ginny was a proud and long time member of the Democratic Women’s Club of East Hartford. She was also a bowling coach at Holiday Lanes, Manchester. In her free time, Ginny enjoyed solving puzzles, swimming or floating at the lake, and being around animals. Above all, spending time with her family was most important to her. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Ginny leaves behind her three children; Timothy Michael Lynch of Bolton, Karen L. Petrella and husband Tony of East Hartford, and Sherry L. Fortin of Glastonbury. Ten grandchildren; Anthony, Joseph, and Michael Petrella, Kayla, Michael, and Stephanie Fortin, Ashley, Salena, and Zylund Lynch, and Jessy Sica Thompson. Nine great-grandchildren; Dominic, Markus, Nevaeh, Joseph Jr., Gabe, Leo, Gianna, Addalena, Kailani, Oliver, and two more on the way. She also leaves behind a brother John Johnson of Arizona, and brother-in-law Gary Lynch and wife Judy of Jamestown, TN. Along with nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Ginny was predeceased by her husband Michael Lynch and son Stephen “Stevie” Lynch.
Funeral service to honor Ginny’s life will be Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10:30 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St. East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 3 – 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ginny’s name may be made to Boy Scout Troop 1, 837 Main St. East Hartford, CT 06108.
