Vincent Attianese, 82, of Brooklyn, NY, beloved husband of Marie (Monteforte) Attianese, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Brooklyn. Vincent was born on November 22, 1940 in Brooklyn and was the son of the late Frank and Elvira (D’Mura) Attianese. Vincent was a graduate from the William E. Grady Vocational High School of Brooklyn. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. One mission he participated on was serving on an aircraft carrier and flying recon, taking photos of the Bay of Pigs. After two years of dedicated service, Vincent was honorably discharged, and returned home. For over 30 years he worked as an airline mechanic working for Pan Am and TWA at JFK Airport. He later went to work as a mechanic for the U.S. Government/FBI. He was a member of the International Machinists Association and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He and Marie grew up in the same neighborhood, on their first date, they immediately knew “this was it” and they were the best thing that happened to each other. They enjoyed a wonderful 56 year marriage that brought them their devoted sons, Vincent Attianese and his wife Anita of South Windsor, CT and Michael Attianese and his wife Anna Maria of Brooklyn, NY. They were also blessed with their cherished grandchildren, Vincent, Marcello, Anthony and Angelina. They loved and will miss their Grandpa very much. Vincent was a kind and loving family man, his family meant everything to him, he was truly a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Being a part of his son’s lives was most important, when his boys were young, he coached their baseball teams, as they got older, Vincent ran the local Teen Club. As much as Vincent loved being a father, he took exceptional joy in being a grandfather and participating in their lives. Vincent was a skilled handyman, he always enjoyed working with his sons on projects at their homes, he also enjoyed fishing and was a fan of the NY Mets. Vincent was a fantastic cook, he loved watching the cooking channels and was always eager to try a new recipe for his family to enjoy.
Vincent will also be missed by his sister, Rae Dery of CA, brother-in-law, Donald Monteforte and his wife Felicia of NJ, sister-in-law Janet Giordano and her husband Gasper of NJ, along with his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Vincent was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Gerard Dery and his in-laws, Dominick and Catherine (Colasurdo) Monteforte.
