Victor O. Baez

Victor O. Baez, 68, of Hartford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Born on December 8, 1955 in the Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Francisco and Benita (Sierra) Baez. Victor was a resident of Hartford for the last 27 years and was happily married to Elida Espinal for the last year. Prior to retirement, Victor was the former owner and operator of La Rumba Market and El Albonito Restaurant in Hartford. In his free time, Victor enjoyed playing Domino’s and getting scratch tickets. He liked to watch baseball and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Tigers del Licey of Dominican Republic. Victor was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother.

Along with his wife, Victor is survived by his four daughters; July Baez and her husband Javier Vega of East Hartford, Vickie Baez of West Springfield, MA, Jessica Baez and her husband Alejandro Martinez of East Hartford, and Madaline Baez and her husband Marcus Fraile of Manchester. Seven adored grandchildren and many brothers and sisters including Francisco Baez and Martha Baez-Guaman.

The Baez family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 4 pm – 7pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St. East Hartford. A funeral service for Victor will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11 am at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
