Veronica Rita (Collins) Weingartner, 97, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late William B. Weingartner, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Born in Hartford on November 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Theresa (Egan) Collins. Veronica worked as cafeteria supervisor for the East Hartford School System until her retirement. Veronica was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW Post 2083. Her greatest joy was her family and spending summers together in Wilmington, Vermont at the family cottage.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Veronica will be forever missed by her four children, William B. Weingartner, Jr. and wife Mary of East Hartford, Wayne T. Weingartner and wife Judy of Gilbert, AZ, Maureen Dagon and Michael of Amston and Kevin J. Weingartner and wife Deborah Ann of Coventry; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Veronica was sadly predeceased by two beloved children, George Weingartner and Anne Marie Weingartner and her cherished grandson, James Dagon. There will be a Prayer Service on Saturday, May 1 at 10 a.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends at a walk-through visitation on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
