Trevor A. Prescod, Sr. transitioned on Saturday March 15th, 2025. Trevor was born on the sun-drenched pristine island of Barbados, West Indies on April 3,1935. As a teenager on the island, Trevor's talent for singing and acting was showcased on Radio Fusion and in various theatres. As he was about to migrate to the United States, friends told him the idea was ludicrous. His reply was that he would be an "unofficial goodwill ambassador" and that he was speaking of his beloved Barbados to anyone who would listen.
Trevor was retired but had been employed at the former G. Fox & Co., Lincoln Dairy, Mercury Windows and Doors, Litton Industries, Pratt & Whitney Machine, HELCO/Northeast Utilities, Contromatics, and Mal Tool and Engineering.
A member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Trevor served on the Vestry and Outreach Committees and was involved with the community garden. He also volunteered for many years with Center City Church, Hands on Hartford, and was involved with Foodshare.
An avid and talented cricketer, having once been named MVP of his team, Trevor would take the scorebooks from games to the Hartford Courant for publication in the 1960's when the game was in its embryonic stages of development in the area. He was also an avid runner and participated in various area road races. In addition, he was a champion table tennis player, winning four gold medals, one silver, and two bronze at the Connecticut Senior Games.
Trevor was a member of the Barbados American Society, the West Indian Social Club, the Sportsmen’s Athletics Club, the Northend Senior Center, the Newington Senior Center, and the United States Table Tennis Association.
Trevor is survived by his five children, Trevor Jr. of Windsor, Julius and his wife Diane of Bloomfield, Tyrone and his wife Bridget of New Jersey, David of East Hartford, and John of Hartford. He also leaves six grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Jillian, Marguerite, Jazzlyn, and Jadiel, and cousins Elmina, Herbert, Archie, Hazel, and Euphene. He is predeceased by his devoted wife Gladlyn, his parents Julion and Netta, his brother Clyde, his cousins George and Gladys, and his former wife Loretta Helena Prescod (née Norman) of Chicago.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 155 Wyllys Street in Hartford on Saturday, March 29th at 11am. The earthly body, a mere shell, has been cremated. The immortal soul has transitioned, awaiting the glorious day when the saints in Christ shall rise. Glory be to God.
