Stella E. (Comeau) Perham, 100, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 61 years of the late Charles Perham, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Brownville Junction, ME on April 23, 1920, a daughter of the late Anthony and Loretta Comeau, she had resided in East Hartford for the past 80 years. A woman of strong faith, Stella was a longtime member of the New Covenant United Methodist Church, East Hartford. Prior to her retirement, Stella was a Sales Leader for Stanley Home Products where she worked for forty years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of East Hartford and the Order of Eastern Star-East Hartford Chapter. While in high school in Maine, Stella was a star basketball player and continued to be a fan of basketball, especially of the UConn Women’s team. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and senior friends at the Southend Senior Center in East Hartford, and also liked traveling across the country in her car and going on cruises. Most of all, Stella cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members.
Stella is survived by two sons, Ronald Perham and his wife Sharon of Glastonbury, and Douglas Perham of East Hartford with whom she made her home; two daughters, Nancy Offutt and her husband William of Colorado Springs, CO, and Debra Crutcher and her husband Steve of Seattle, WA; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Perham of East Hartford; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Stella was predeceased by a son, James Perham of East Hartford; four brothers, Brian, George, James, and Anthony; and a sister, Ester.
Due to the current health pandemic, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:30 am at Hillside Cemetery, (Section C), East Hartford. There are no calling hours. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the cemetery on Saturday morning and wear a face covering and adhere to all current regulations. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stella’s name may be made to the Southend Senior Center, 70 Canterbury Street, East Hartford, CT 06118 or to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice. The D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
