Shirley Galinat Conn

SHIRLEY GALINAT CONN, 91, passed away on December 17, 2018, in Daytona Beach, Fl. She was born November 6, 1927, in Hartford, CT, to parents William and Mabel Sterzing. Shirley resided in South Glastonbury and Staffordville, CT, before moving to Daytona Beach, FL.

Shirley retired May 1987 from AT&T as an Assistant Manager in the Business Office. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and Altar Guild in South Glastonbury, CT, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and Altar Guild in Daytona Beach, FL. Throughout her life Shirley knew that Jesus loved her.

Other memberships included the Halifax Historical Society, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Board of the Beachside Neighborhood Watch, and the Halifax River Yacht Club. Shirley was happiest when entertaining, especially at the lake cottage, and the Bahamas surrounded by her family & friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her husbands, Ransom L Galinat, Jr. and Stuart Forbes Conn, daughter Lynn Galinat Self, sisters Ethel and Gladys and niece Judy. She is survived by her sons Ransom L Galinat, III (Evert Asbridge) and Garth (Kristine) Galinat, grandson Neil Galinat, granddaughter Sarah (Dan) Huntoon, great granddaughter Cecilia; niece Barbara (Richard) Plaza, Harry Coppens, and her caregiver and friend Berta Caballero.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Shirley Galinat Conn’s name to your local Hospice agency or Humane Society.

Shirley will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, February 1, 2019, from 10:30am-11:30am at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tnpk., Glastonbury, CT 06033. Her Funeral Liturgy will follow at 12noon at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 915 Main Street, South Glastonbury. Burial will conclude services in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill, CT.
