Born April 25th, 1920, in Hartford, Connecticut, Salvatore "Sal" Damiata was a Hartford High School graduate. Sal went on to become a member of the Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the service he met and married Shirley (Kennedy) Damiata, the love of his life and remained her faithful husband of 68 years until the time of his passing. He worked for the Underwood Company and the US Post Office, until his retirement.
Sal was an avid gardener and model ship builder. He was truly blessed with a green thumb; if he planted it, it grew and thrived. He loved watching the news and debating current events, but nothing gave him more joy and pride than his loving family.
Sal is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe Damiata and Rose (Ribera) Damiata as well as three brothers, Sebastian, John and Orlando Damiata. In addition to his beloved wife, Sal leaves behind his three sons, Joseph Damiata and his wife Brenda of East Hartford, James Damiata of Newington and William Damiata of East Hartford. Sal also leaves behind four grandchildren; Melissa Damiata and her husband and two children, Nicole Vaillancourt and her two children Rudy and Soleil Vaillancourt, Salvatore Damiata and his wife and their impending child, and Santino Damiata and his significant other Samantha Herren.
