Robert F. “Bob” Wiezalis, 85, of Glastonbury, peacefully passed away at home, Sunday, December 4, 2022. He was the loving husband to the late Noreen L. (Hallworth) Wiezalis who pre-deceased him in 2011. Bob was born December 31, 1936 and raised in Hartford, son of the late Frank Stanley and Helen Mary (Raulinaitis) Wiezalis. He attended Hartford schools, leaving high school to join and proudly serve our country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force.
Bob was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for many years. He later became a licensed optician working in various stores throughout the local area for the rest of his career. Bob had a love of bowling and playing cards, especially set back. He also enjoyed fishing. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
Bob will be deeply missed and forever remembered by two sons, David R. Wiezalis and his wife Julie, and David J. Shermer, all of Enfield; three daughters, JoAnn Leonard and her husband Jamie, of Portland, Lisa Wiezalis of Wethersfield, and Holly Wiezalis of New Britain; as well as numerous adored grandchildren and cherished great grandchildren. Bob will also be missed by many friends. In addition to his wife Noreen and his parents, Bob was pre-deceased by his brother Richard Wiezalis and his son Walter Shermer.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford, Tuesday, December 13, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at which time a Remembrance service celebrating Bob’s life will be held. Inurnment will follow the Remembrance service in Silver Lane Cemetery (Veterans’ section), East Hartford. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to Hospital for Special Care, 2150 Corbin Ave. New Britain, CT 06053 and/or Hartford HealthCare at Home/Hospice, 1290 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
