Robert “Bob” R. Stefanik, 79, of East Hartford, loving husband of over 50 years of Barbara (Clements) Stefanik, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his caring family. Born in Manhattan, NY on May 24, 1937, a son of the late Rudolph A. and Rose (Tokarsky) Stefanik, he had resided in East Hartford for the past 50 years. Bob was a proud veteran of the Connecticut Air National Guard for 29 years retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1997. He was employed by Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks as a Sheet Metal Mechanic retiring after 31 years of dedicated employment. A devout catholic, he was a long-time communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. Bob loved hunting and gardening (especially of vegetables), and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and UCONN Women’s basketball teams. He was especially fond of his summer home in Rhode Island and the summers he spent at the beach.
Along with his beloved wife Barbara, Bob is survived by a son, Robert “Bobby” A. Stefanik and his wife Sloane of Wethersfield; two daughters, Bonnie Bagdasarian and her husband Dean of Glastonbury, Candace “Candy” Miller and her husband Jonathan of East Hampton; seven cherished grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, and Jason Bagdasarian all of Glastonbury, Matthew and Andrew Stefanik both of Wethersfield, Brianne and Abbie Miller both of East Hampton. He also leaves a brother, Daniel Stefanik and his wife Beth of Vernon; a sister, Janet Hoekstra of Vernon; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Monday (October 31, 2016) at 9:30 am from the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday (October 30, 2016) from 4-7 pm.
