Richard J Danforth SR. 77 a long time resident of Manchester CT. Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday August 23, 2020 at Crestfield Fenwood Manor. He was born July 11, 1943 at Hartford Hospital to the late Elsie Stepien and the late Clifford Danforth previously of Hartford, CT. Richard was previously employed by Lydell & Folds and also Floral Expressions in Manchester before retiring in 2001. Though he lived most of his adult life in Manchester, he later moved to South Windsor with his longtime companion of 20 plus years Barbara Williams South Windsor CT. There he also became as a loyal caregiver to her parents Joseph and Evelyn Normoyle for many years.
Richard was a simple man who loved animals and had a loving and gentle nature. He loved 50’s and 60’s music especially doo-wops. He had a vast knowledge of this musical time and would often share facts and dates about the songs or the artists. Richard was also a man with quite a sense of humor and would often crack jokes to get people to laugh, he will be missed for his quirky humor and humorous phrases. He was an avid fan of wrestling and comedic movies especially the Three Stooges. Deep down he was a loving, caring family man, who was a devoted and proud father with a religious faith, and a soft spot for animals.
He is survived by, and will be dearly missed by his five sons Richard Danforth JR and wife Sharon of Willimantic CT, Gary Danforth of Manchester CT, Michael Danforth SR and wife Debra of Andover MA, Daniel Danforth and wife Jodi of Ladson, South Carolina and Mark Danforth and Cheryl Pagani Soares of New Hampshire. Richard also leaves behind 12 grand- children and 15 great grandchildren which he shares with his former wife Joyce Griffing-Roberts of Manchester CT. He was also predeceased by his Brothers Kenny and Jimmy Danforth.
