Raymond “Ray” A. Ferland, 81, of East Hartford, loving husband of over 40 years of the late Janice (Guyette) Ferland, peacefully continued his journey and joined his wife in heaven on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at his home. Born in Hartford on September 23, 1936, a son of the late Alfred and Irene Ferland, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1962. Ray was a graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, Class of 1954. Prior to his retirement, Ray was employed for 40 years by Wiremold Company of West Hartford. Ray liked to fish and hunt and was a long time loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. Most of all, Ray enjoyed his home and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ray is survived by a daughter, Cindy M. Abbott and her husband, Lance, of Portland; a son, Alfred Raymond Ferland of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; a sister, Rita Guiliano of Inverness, FL; five special grandchildren, Amanda Duffy and her husband, James, of Stratford, Laura Karwoski and her husband, Jay, of Berlin, Shaun Abbott and his wife, Karen, of Wethersfield, Alexandra Ferland of Martha’s Vineyard, MA, and Elliot Ferland of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; three adored great-grandchildren, Lillian Karwoski of Berlin, James Raymond “J.R.” Duffy of Stratford, and Jacob Karwoski of Berlin; many nieces, nephews, friends, and former co-workers. Along with his beloved wife and parents, Ray was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Ferland of Martha’s Vineyard, MA.
Funeral service celebrating Ray’s life will be Saturday (August 18, 2018) at 10 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Entombment will follow at the Mount Saint Benedict Mausoleum in Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning from 9-10 am.
