Philip was born and raised in Hartford. He was the loving son of the late Edward and Ann Tully Lester. Philip graduated from Hartford Public High School and went on to the Hartford School of Accounting, New Hampshire College, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he earned a Masters degree in Business Administration.
Philip worked for the State of Ct, Department of Transportation as a highway inspector and for the Travelers Insurance Company in their Corporate Accounting Department.
He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Keegan Lester for 47 eventful years. His family was his life and they always came first. He is survived by his son, Philip J. Lester and his wife Michele of Boca Raton, Fl., his daughter Jillaine Lester Young and her husband Kirt of Manchester, Ct and his son Daniel J. Lester and his wife Kerensa of South Windsor, Ct. He was proud of his six grandchildren Raistlin and Arianna Lester, Emily and Kevin Young, and Chloe and Lucas Lester. He leaves his sisters Joanne Wilczynski of Vestal, New York and his sister Marilyn Barry of Sandwich, Ma. He also leaves his many nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond.
He was predeceased by his son Eddie Lester, his sisters Corrine Sitavich and Lois Clynch.
In his younger years, Phil loved camping and spending time around the campfire with his family and friends. In his later years, he really enjoyed watching the sunset on Anna Maria Island in Bradenton, Fl.

Calling hours will be held 4pm-7:30pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. Funeral services begin at 9am, Thursday, November 16, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford.
