Peggy D. Gompper

Peggy Drown Gompper-Schabener, 94, of Stafford Springs, passed away in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2017. She was born in Maine, on July 21, 1922 a daughter to the late Frank E. and Willimina (Davidson) Drown. Peggy grew up in East Hartford, and attended & graduated from East Hartford High School.

She enjoyed spending time at the Stafford Springs Senior Center. Peggy was a loving and caring mother, who adored her family.

She will be dearly missed by her sons; Henry “Skip” Gompper Jr., of Stafford Springs, Paul Gompper and his wife Bonnie of Stafford Springs, Christopher Gompper of Greenville, SC, daughter Linda Pogor and her husband Matt of Austin, TX., daughter-in-law Joann Gompper of Glastonbury, 8 grandchildren: David, Eddie, Neil, Andy, Ned, Jason, Eric, and Nathan, 10 great grandchildren: Ethan, Evan, Isabella, Beck, Charlotte, Christopher James, Chloe, Jacob, Benjamin and Brenna.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Peggy is predeceased by her son Richard Gompper and her daughter-in-law Bernadette Gompper.

A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 11am-12:30pm at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108. A Funeral Service will follow immediately at 12:30pm at the funeral home, with burial concluding services in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
