Patricia Kelly passed away at her home in South Glastonbury after a long illness on October 6. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 59 years, James, her beloved children: Patrice and Brian Ellis with whom Patricia lived; Sheila Kelly and her husband Phillip Mead, and their son Keith of St. Croix, USVI and Paulette and Leo Kingston of Oklahoma City and Miami Beach Florida. Patricia is also survived by her only and beloved granddaughter, Kylie Marie Ellis, who is a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Patricia was born on February 2, 1929, in St Francis Maine. She was the youngest of the 14 children of Rosalie Dube and Charles Nadeau. She is survived by three sisters: Bernadette Hendershot of Windsor Locks, Georgette Andrews of Ellington and Theresa Cote of Portland, ME. Patricia also leaves many nieces and nephews including her devoted niece Gene Perrault of St Francis as well as dear family friends, including Mary and Michael Flynn and Ann and Joan Noel.
Patricia graduated from Fort Kent Teachers College, now the University of Maine, as well as Connecticut State University. Patricia was a School Principal in St. Francis, ME; she taught for many years in the Hartford Public Schools as a special education teacher. Her joy was in serving the underserved. Patricia also taught at St. Bernard's School in Rockville. Patricia’s love of learning, children and animals is the legacy she left to her family. No children had a more devoted or loving mother or grandmother and she was deeply loved in return. Her passing leaves a gap in our lives that will never be filled. The family would like to thank all the devoted caregivers that supported her through her long illness including Akua Genfi, Lisa Wrinn, Nursing Services and Companions and Homemakers. We would also like to thank Kate Robertson and Father Thomas Hickey for their many kindnesses.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury on Saturday, October 9th at 11a.m. with Rev. Thomas Hickey officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. There will be no public calling hours.
