Norma M. (Ouellette) Thomas, 88, of Manchester, loving wife of the late Paul Patrick Thomas, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at a local rehabilitation center. Born in Grand Isle, Maine on May 17, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Ludger and Beatrice (Garon) Ouellette. She grew up in Maine and graduated from Van Buren High School, class of 1952. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for several years as a Systems Analyst for Aetna Insurance Company. In 1995 she and her late husband moved to Port St. Lucie, FL where they enjoyed the good life (new friends, golf, beach, etc.) for 21 beautiful years. Norma was an avid golfer and was a member of the Savannah Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL where she participated in several leagues. She also loved going to the beach with her family and friends, and was a longtime blood donor of the American Red Cross. Most of all, Norma was a proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her time with her entire family.
Norma is survived by her son, Robert J. Thomas and his wife Rhonda of Tolland; a daughter, Paula M. Mayo and her husband Donald of Manchester; three special grandsons, Robert Mayo and his wife Danielle of Manchester, Nicklaus Mayo and his wife Brittany of Middletown, Evan Thomas of Tolland; and two adored great-grandsons, Owen and Levi Mayo both of Middletown. She also leaves two brothers, Adrian Ouellette of Broad Brook, Phillip Ouellette of Vernon; two sisters, Arlene Clavette of Enfield, Patricia “Kit” Dinocenza of Newington; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Yvette Garon of Hartford; a brother, Robert Ouellette of South Windsor; three sisters-in-law, Alberta Ouellette, Mabel Ouellette, Julia Thomas; and three brothers-in-law, Ronald Clavette, Albert Dinocenza, and Joseph Thomas.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (October 19th) at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, (Section 1), Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10- 11 am.
