Nancy Belle (Chase) Johnson, 75, of Glastonbury, CT departed this world on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Hartford Hospital after complications of COPD. She fought long and hard and her family admired her strength immensely. She lived courageously for many years with COPD.
Nancy was an only child to George Goddard and Mary Thelma Chase. She was born May 18, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio where she lived her childhood. She met her future husband, Charles Winthrop Johnson, in the 4th grade. After graduating from Bowling Green University and getting married, Nancy and Win traveled the world together due to military and career commitments, raising their family in numerous cities across the country. They settled in Glastonbury in 1981.
She had the most fun with her life-long “Omaha” friends she loved dearly. Nancy was a preschool owner during her time in Omaha and later enjoyed a long career at Decker Advertising in Glastonbury before retiring in 2002. She was fortunate to have many special friends and neighbors, including her caregiver and friend Geneva Francis-Mccalla.
Over the years Nancy enjoyed her time at Crescent Beach in St. Augustine, FL. She loved the beach, lobster, college football and most importantly her family. She was a loving and supportive mom and fantastic Grammy, always putting her family first. She is survived by her daughters, both of Glastonbury, Lisa Rouleau and her daughter Madison; and Kristi Granato, her husband Tony and their kids Travis and Lauren. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law Lynda and Noel Walton; a nephew Scott Walton and niece Sheryl Arthurs, and their families; a special cousin and best friend Christine Paulson and nieces Kim Paulson and Aimee Greene, and her family. She was predeceased by her husband Win, her parents and in-laws.
Nancy’s family would like to thank those who cared for her, specifically Dr. David Salm, the medical staff at the Center for Wound Healing, the doctors and nurses of Bliss 9 Step down and the doctors of Connecticut Multispecialty Group, especially Dr. Jeff Nascimento.
Friends and family may call at Glastonbury Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17th from 5:00-8:00PM.
