Milton W. ""Uncle Milt"" Hoff, 77, of Amston, loving husband of Dora (Mailhot) Hoff, passed away peacefully on Thursday (September 15, 2005) at the William W. Backus Memorial Hospital in Norwich, surrounded by the loving thoughts of his family and friends. Born on May 23, 1928 in Rushford, Minnesota, a son of the late Lars and Lena (Moen) Hoff, he had resided in the Rocky Hill and Hartford areas for most of his adult life prior to moving to Amston 13 years ago. Milton served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and spent his working career as a truck driver for 40 years and belonged to the Teamsters Local #671. He devoted his time to caring for his family and played lead guitarist in his own band, ""The Moon Liters"" performing in various clubs throughout New England. Milton had a life long love of music, which influenced those who loved him. Besides his beloved wife Dora of 35 years, Milton leaves three adopted children, Joanne Stratton and her husband, Christopher, of Marlborough, Daniel Trahan and his wife, Rhonda, of Andover, Lynn Laroche of Bolton; his precious granddaughter, Stephanie Laroche of Amston; three children from a previous marriage; several nieces and nephews in Minnesota; and many good and dear friends who have been very supportive and kind during his brief illness. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Silva of Hartford. Funeral service will be Monday, September 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. His family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, September 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
