Michelle Ann Lavoie

Michelle (Bertrand) Lavoie, 62, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 41 years of Mark L. Lavoie, peacefully passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her home with her entire family around. Born in Hartford on March 25, 1956, a daughter of the late Raymond A. and Dorothy (Bennett) Bertrand, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Michelle was a graduate of George J. Penney High School in East Hartford, Class of 1974. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for over 30 years as a waitress by the former Ramada Inn and Sheraton Hotels in East Hartford. She enjoyed gardening, going to the beach, and spending time outdoors. Most of all, she was a proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who truly loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Along with her beloved husband Mark, Michelle is survived by her three cherished daughters, Christina Langer and her husband, Eric, of East Haddam, Laura Lavoie and her companion, Andrew Spencer, of Glastonbury, Nicole Smith and her husband, Jordan, of South Windsor; three adored grandchildren, Isabelle Spencer of Glastonbury, Ryan Langer and Chloe Langer both of East Haddam. She also leaves two sisters, Kathleen Leiberis and her husband, Joseph, of Manchester, Theresa Bertrand and her companion, Michael Cavelli, of East Hartford; four brothers-in-law, Michael Lavoie of Bolton, Thomas Lavoie of Manchester, James Lavoie and his wife, Marion, of Broad Brook, Paul Lavoie and his wife, Sharon, of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral service celebrating Michelle’s life will be Wednesday (July 11th) at 11 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday (July 10th) from 4-7 pm.
