Mary Rose (Flynn) Marsdale, 96, of Glastonbury and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully journeyed home on Tuesday, (March 8, 2011). Mary was the loving wife for 52 years to the late George F. Marsdale. Born in Chicago, IL on August 21, 1914, a daughter of the late James and Julia (Creedan) Flynn, she had been a resident of East Hartford for 38 years prior to moving to Glastonbury over 11 years ago. Mary was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy Waves serving during World War II and was a member of the Connecticut Yankees Unit 42 of the Waves. Prior to her retirement she was an LPN at area nursing homes, including Riverside Health Care Center, East Hartford for 18 years. A devout catholic, Mary was a faithful viewer of the daily Mass on television. She was a talented painter and member of the East Hartford Art League and participated in many Naubuc Green activities in Glastonbury. She was also a loyal fan of UCONN Women's Basketball and the Boston Red Sox. Mary is survived by three daughters, Linda M. Marsdale, Peggy Lareau and her husband, Daniel, Diane M. Lucas and her husband, Mark, all of East Hartford; two sons, Alan F. Marsdale and his wife, Karen, of Oley, PA, Greg T. Marsdale and his companion, Ana Dobbs, of East Hartford. She also leaves six special grandchildren, Tricia Theobald and her husband, David, Kevin T. Flury and his partner, Tim Carney, Marc Marsdale, Danielle Jeram and her husband, Kevin, Elizabeth Reilly and her husband, Josh, and Amanda Flury; five adored great-grandchildren, Kenet, Owen, Corbin, Teagan, and Gavin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, March 14 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Monday morning). Private burial with military honors will be at the convenience of the family at Veteran's Memorial Field-Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. There are no calling hours.
