Mary Ellen (Casey) Geary, 81, of East Hartford, died peacefully at home on Sunday (June 17, 2007) in the presence of her loving family. Mary Ellen was born in New York City, NY to the late Michael and Julia (Nolan) Casey. She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Geary and is survived by her five children, Margaret Mortali, Julia Sullivan and her husband John, James M. Geary and his wife Gail, Denis P. Geary and his wife Faith VosWinkel, Michael C. Geary and his wife Nancy. She also leaves behind thirteen adoring grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her two brothers, Denis and Patrick Casey; and her sister, Eleanor O'Byrne. Mary Ellen was a woman of faith who basked in the love and devotion of her family. As a proud wife, mother, and grandmother, she often proclaimed to us, ""Just remember, if it weren't for me, none of you would be here"". Her family was her legacy; we were her universe. Mary Ellen's family cannot thank enough the many tender and compassionate caregivers who entered her life and theirs over the past year. Our grateful hearts will long remember your labors of love. Funeral service will be Friday, June 22 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford on Thursday, June 21 from 4-8 p.m. and at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church in Hartford on Friday morning from 9-10:15 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
