Marie Rose Huguette (Demers) Rouleau, 86, of Columbia, VA, wife of the late John Daniel Rouleau was called Home and entered the Lord’s embrace on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was born on September 12, 1930, in St.-Antoine De Pontbriand, Quebec, Canada, to the late Philippe and Antoinette Demers. She enjoyed doing puzzles, listening to music, knitting, and cooking the best comfort foods for her family. She raised thirteen children in East Hartford and then after becoming a widow moved to Glastonbury for a short time and then resided in Rockville where she was a devout member of St. Bernard Church. Marie spent the last four years living with her beloved son Louis, his partner Rodney, and their much-adored dog Rosco on beautiful Trice’s Lake in Columbia, VA where she spent many peaceful hours sitting by the shore. She is survived by her sons and daughters Carol Mallett and husband Bob, Leo Rouleau and wife Susan, Claire Nieb, Nelson Rouleau and wife Martha, Pauline Hills and husband Terry, Emile Rouleau and wife Lenora, Rita Faucher and husband Joe, Rene Rouleau and partner Jennifer, Yvette Cianfaglione and husband John, Roseanne Papineau and husband Lenny, Louis Rouleau and partner Rodney; grandchildren Shannon Mallett, Amber Mallett, Stacy Rouleau, Danielle Rouleau, Jason Rouleau, Brian Rouleau, Monica Arbeca, Dawn Smith, Nelson Rouleau, Jr. Joshua Rouleau, Samuel Rouleau, Charlie Hills, Kristen Bertollo, Krystal Rouleau, Dillon Rouleau, Chantelle Rouleau, Britney Corbell, Tessa Cianfaglione, and Theo Pappas, Jr. as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Marc Rouleau and his wife Missy, son Paul Rouleau and several brothers and sisters. Thanks to Sandi Moore and many others at the lake who spent countless hours keeping Marie company at Demers Cottage. A very special thank you to Rodney Perry whose love for and unending support to Marie these past four years proved to be invaluable not only to Marie but to the entire Rouleau family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday September 27th, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard’s Terrace, Rockville, CT. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict’s Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT 06002. There are no visiting hours.
