Marie “Tina” (Santangelo) Pelletier, 89, formerly of East Hartford, CT, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 9, 2018. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Santangelo of Adrano, Sicily. Tina was the beloved wife for 65 years of the late George Emile Pelletier.
Tina is survived by her daughters, Susan M. Patria of Charlestown, RI, Angela Jalbert and her partner Brian Bos of Charlestown, RI, Georgina “Gigi” Philbin and her husband Robert of Lansdale, PA; one sister, Catherine St. Hilaire; six grandchildren, Laurie Abo and her husband Mark, Michael Patria and his wife Karla, Jessica Jalbert, Nicole Reynolds and her husband Will, Gina Toro and her husband Matthew and Lisa Myer and her husband Sheldon; six great grandchildren, Landon and Keaton Abo, Leah and Nicholas Toro, Coyle Vine and Nora Myer.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Tina was predeceased by her brother, Vincent Santangelo and her sister, Sarah Grasso.
Tina graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1948 where she was a proud member of the marching band playing the clarinet. She was a member of the East Hartford Elks and Emblem Clubs. She retired from Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company in 1982. Tina had many interests and talents. She loved to travel, sew, dance, bowl, play musical instruments and especially enjoyed playing bocce.
Tina will be dearly missed by her family and many close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hope Hospice of Rhode Island.
Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 5pm-8pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. 06108. Services begin on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 9am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford.
