Lucille (Scavello) LeMay, 89, of S. Windsor, for 74 years of East Hartford, beloved wife of 48 years to J. Roger LeMay passed away on Friday June 10, 2022 with her daughter by her side. She was born May 18, 1933 in Hartford Hospital, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Cesarea (Gurciullo) Scavello, immigrants from Sortino Sicily. She had siblings; Ann (Ramondetta) who died in 1983, and Sebastian who died in 1943. Lucille attended Silver Lane School and East Hartford High School. She always lived in a family atmosphere and grew up with her sister Ann and nieces Virginia, Anne Marie, Jane (deceased). She loved to cook. Her family’s fond memories include spaghetti dinners on Sundays and lively Thanksgiving feasts. Later in life, she made trips to the Caribbean, enjoying the easy paced days. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles and trying new restaurants. She was always up for a trip to try a new type of cuisine or old favorites, especially a good deli sandwich or Thai food. Lucille enjoyed a long career of public service, starting with employment with the Connecticut State Police. She then continued her work, serving administration for the National Guard at both the state and federal levels.
Her family was her pride and joy. She leaves a son; Joseph and daughter-in-law Megan of Redondo Beach, CA, her daughter; Lynn and son-in-law Sean Gillane of Windsor, three grandchildren; Jessica and husband Nate Gottier, Patrick and fiancé Alayna Piotrowski, and Erin and partner Jason Kellogg and a great granddaughter Aidalyn. Her family wishes to thank her caregivers, Karen, Caren, Vivian, Franklina, Aisha, and Carina. Funeral services will start at the funeral home Thursday June 16, 2022 at 9:00am leaving for Church at 9:30am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church 15 Maplewood Ave. East Hartford, CT. 66108. Committal Services will be in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford CT. at 11:00am.
