Lucien J. Lavertu, 80, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Joan (Cyr) Lavertu, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015. He was born in St. David, ME, to the late Ernest and Winnie Lavertu. Lucien was devoted to his gardening which he shared with his loving family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Joan of 60 years, Lucien is survived by his 2 children, Paul Lavertu and his wife Valerie of FL, Carol Brousseau and her husband Richard of Manchester; his 6 grandchildren Tania Amendola, Shawn Lavertu, Monica and Michelle Lavertu, Steven Brousseau, Donovan Tucker; his great-granddaughter Khloe Wizzard; his 2 brothers, Herby and Marcelle, Elmer and Judy; his 3 sisters, Viola Chamberland and Robert, Dorothy Leslie and James, Bernice Roy and Marc; his sister in-law, Claudette Martin and Maynard; brother in-law Charles and Lucien’s dear friend Janet Lam. He was predeceased by his siblings, Norman, Manus, Yvette Gendreau and Pauline Audet and brother in-law Edouard and sister in-law Priscilla .
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 1st, from 4 to 7PM at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. Funeral Services will begin on Monday, March 2nd, at 9AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM, at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer St. East Hartford. Burial will be in the spring.
