Kathryn Vickers Croft, age, 96, of Middletown, CT and Clearwater FL, was called to home by her heavenly father on January 31, 2014. Born November 15, 1917 in Moultrie, GA., she is predeceased in death by her parents and by a son, David William Croft of Tampa, FL. Kathryn is survived by her loving family; son, T. Lloyd Croft, Jr. and wife Thelma of Arlington Heights, IL; daughter, Cathy Hodlin and husband Brian Hodlin of Cromwell, CT ; granddaughters Meghan and Erin Hodlin of Cromwell, CT and Grandson, Capt. Andrew D. Hodlin, USMC, San Clemente, CA. Kathryn was a caring and loving mother and grandmother, forever proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. Kathryn’s career spanned 40 years as a school teacher, 22 years in Georgia and 16 years in Florida. Her goal was to give every child an opportunity to perform academically to the best of his or her ability.
Kathryn will be dearly missed by her family and will live on forever in our hearts. Her family attributes her long life to her bright spirit, flexible point of view, humor and firm faith in God.The family would like to thank the staff at Wadsworth Glen in Middletown, and the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit for their loving care, support and compassion. We will all miss our “Georgia Peach”.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT, from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a short prayer service. Burial will be in Georgia at the convenience of the family.
