John Henry Sartori, 86, of Hudson, FL, and formerly of Glastonbury and East Hartford, peacefully passed away on Monday (April 11, 2011) at the Regional Medical Center, Bayonet Point, FL. John was the loving husband for 44 years to Joan Elizabeth (Barber) Sartori. Born in Hartford on April 25, 1924, a son of the late John Peter and Evelyn (Crocker) Sartori, he was raised in East Hartford and was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1942. John was a proud U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. After the war, he graduated from Hillyer College at the University of Hartford, Class of 1952. A former fourth-grade school teacher in East Windsor, John retired in 1979 from Consolidated Cigar Corporation in Glastonbury where he was the Personnel Director for 15 years. John was active with many various town committees and commissions in the towns of East Hartford and Glastonbury, including the Glastonbury Republican Town Committee, Co-Chairman of the Fire Commission in Glastonbury, and a Justice of the Peace. John was a charter member of UNICO in Glastonbury and was awarded the ""Unican of the Year"" (1978-1979). He was also a past president and member of the Italian-American Home in East Hartford, and a former Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 110 in East Hartford. Besides his caring wife, Joan, John is survived by his four beloved daughters, Evelyn E. White and her husband, Stephen, of Sanford, NC, Esther DePasquale and her husband, Blase ""Bill"" of Glastonbury, Patricia Ann Sartori of Manchester, Joan Elizabeth Vicinus and her husband, Paul W., of Plainville; ten special grandchildren, Sharon Stevenson and her husband, Robert, Kevin Sartori and his wife, Megan, Christine Bridges and her husband, Larry, Todd DePasquale and his wife, Raeanne, Jayme Evans and her husband, Keith, Dayna DePasquale, Chad DePasquale, Brittany Svendgard, Brandon Vicinus, and Jacob Vicinus; six adored great-grandchildren, Ryan, Shane, Staci, Blake, Tyler, and Olivia. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends and former co-workers. Funeral services will be Monday (April 18th) at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, May Road/Brandon Road, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Burnside Avenue, East Hartford.
