John Henry "Bing" Martin, 79, beloved husband of the late Mary Paquette, of East Hartford, passed to eternal life Tuesday (October 11, 2011). He was born in Hartford, the son of the late Aileen (LaClair) Martin and John H. Martin, both of East Hartford. He divided his years between East Hartford and New Hampshire. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his valor. He was very proud of the service he gave to his country and counted it amongst his blessings in life along with his wife, Mary and their families. Prior to his retirement in 2010 Bing owned and operated J&D Cleaning with his late son, Donald and several other businesses over the years. He is predeceased by his son, Donald Paquette Martin of East Hartford, and his brother Donald A. Martin of East Hartford and his nephew Glenn Lee Martin of East Hartford. He is survived by two brother's Lee A. Martin "Beebe" and his wife Burnie of East Hartford and Patrick A. Martin of Manchester and his sister Margo Mazzeo of Vernon who devoted herself to his care for the last four years. Years that with the death of his wife and son would have been unbearable without her constant companionship. A sister-in-law Joan (Laria) Martin of Glastonbury: three grandchildren Mark Tinsley, Kelley Tinsley and Theresa Paquette: two great granddaughters Briana and Marissa Tinsley and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverside Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford for its outstanding care and commitment to their patients. Bing will be remembered for his generosity, his wit and his devotion to his family. For those that loved him, their grief will be tempered for they know it was his time to find peace.
Burial with full military honors will be held at the graveside on Tuesday (October 18, 2011) at 10 a.m. in Silver Lane Cemetery, 1312 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
