Hazel Mae Tabor, age 97, widow of George W. Tabor Jr., passed away on February 9th, at Hill House Assisted Living, Bath, Maine. She was born on June 11, 1919 and was adopted by her grandparents, Burton Hayes and Martha Morrison Hayes. She grew up in East Hartford and graduated from East Hartford High School.
After bringing up her children in Manchester CT., she moved with her husband to Harpswell,Maine, in 1979, at the age of sixty.
She was a member of Elijah Kellogg Church, in Harpswell, and enjoyed Bible study, helping with craft fairs, making ornaments and cooking pies. Most of all she enjoyed socializing with her friends.
She will be remembered for her joy of classical music and hymns, which were heard at home. She enjoyed playing the organ, guitar, and harmonica. Many years she bowled in a league. Her quiet times were with her pets and solving crossword puzzles.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Janet Rolocut, Terryl Keib and her husband Donald Keib, Susan Tabor, and daughter-in-law Marion Tabor. She leaves eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband George, in 1979, and son George(Bill), in 2015.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4-7pm. at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Friday February 17 at 10:30am with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11am. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
