Born in Lima, Perú on February 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Jose Manuel Garcia and Graciela Catalina Baza. Graciela was well known in Peru, both as a mentor and an amazing baker. She brought her baking skills with her when she moved to the United States, with her family, and was so renowned for her incredible creations that people would travel for miles to transport her amazing cakes and pastries to various events. She was also a talented artist, creating countless crafts for her family to be cherished forever. Aside from her various talents Graciela also had an unforgettable character. Those around her described her as strong willed and dedicated to those she loved. She had the courage to overcome and confront the struggles that life threw her. She inspired friends and family to persevere and overcome any situation. Graciela was a devout Catholic and her love for God was unbreakable. During her hardest times, she turned to prayer and never lost faith till the end. Despite her religion and beliefs she adjusted her traditional values to the change of times and generations. Family meant everything to Graciela and one of her greatest joys was bringing her family together. Her children are grateful that she instilled in them, the importance of family and remembering their roots.
Besides her husband of 62 years, Graciela is survived by her four children, Miriam Forcht and her husband Roger of East Hartford, Nestor Valle and his wife Susan of East Hartford, Herbert Rodni Valle and his wife Guadalupe of Wethersfield and Sonia Romero and her husband Jose of East Hartford, along with sixteen grandchildren, Alexandra, Diandra, Pedro, Gabriel, Sandra, Belen, Johanna, Tiffany, Angela, Stephanie, Allison, Adriana, Claudia, Angel, Vanessa, and Diego. And ten great grandchildren with another one on the way. She also leaves two brothers, Rolando Garcia Baza and Fernando Garcia Baza, two sisters, Norma Garcia and Maria Del Pilar Garcia and her half brother Manuel Garcia with many more beloved family members. She was predeceased by a brother, Jose Manuel Garcia Baza.
Graciela’s presence will be missed. She shares her glowing smile, her infectious laughter, and love for music and dancing with anyone she could.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 13 at Maria Reina de la Paz Parish, 494 New Britain Ave. Hartford, CT 06106. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. A private burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury for the immediate family only.
