George F. Wilk, 85, of Oxford, beloved husband of the late Nancy Wilk, passed away on September 30th at Griffin Hospital with family by his side. He was born May 27th 1928 in S. Milwaukee WI to the late John and Caroline (Pawlak) Wilk. He graduated St. Bonaventrure University. Moving to Manchester in 1980 he resided in Manchester for 33 years. George was employed by Manchester Board of Education as a guidance counselor retiring 1997.
He was a loving father devoted to his family, always available for guidance and support. He enjoyed helping others and spent most of his time living each and every day to its fullest. He will be most remembered for always having an open door, welcoming anyone that walked through and immediately bringing a smile to their face.
George is survived by his two sons, David and his wife Kara of Oxford and Michael and his wife Kimberly of Manchester; his beloved Grandchildren, Reese and Reagan.
Funeral Services will be held on October 8th at 11 am at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home 318 Burnside Ave East Hartford CT burial will follow in Hillside cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 10am at the funeral home before the service. Calling hours will be on October 7th from 4 to 7pm at the funeral home.
