Ernesto was born in Chavińa, a Province of Ayacucho, Peru on November 1, 1932. He was the son of the late Jose A. Guardia and Visitacion Guardia Cordova. He immigrated to Connecticut to be with his beloved Casimira and they were married on February 18, 1965.
Ernesto worked for Colt’s Manufacturing for over 30 years and was proud to be a part of the firearms legacy in Hartford. He was always full of energy and truly enjoyed traveling with his family. They will never forget the wonderful memories made on their many road trips in his 1974 orange VW bus.
Ernesto always cherished his home country of Peru and took many trips back there to visit family. He especially enjoyed bringing his children along so they could experience the South American culture and allowed them the opportunity to savor the Peruvian cuisine that he so loved.
He was a well-spoken Spanish man, who delighted in conversation with family and friends while enjoying a beer or his favorite Cabernet Sauvignon in his hand. He enjoyed dancing at parties and reveled in family gatherings. He and his wife loved spending time at the beach. They would be the first ones to arrive at the shore and one of the lasts to leave. In his spare time, he liked stopping at tag sales and finding unique treasures to give to his children.
Ernesto is survived and will be sadly missed by his daughter, Edith Guardia Merrill and her husband Kenneth Merrill, his three sons, Ernesto Guardia, Jr., his wife Ana, David J. Guardia and Jose A. Guardia. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren along with his sister Angelica Guardia.
A special mention must be made to his adored Romeo, his apricot mini poodle who gave him loving companionship for 17 years.
