Eleanor “Ellie” (Muusmann) Lima, 82, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 61 years of Peter I. Lima, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at a local rehabilitation center. Born in Hartford on June 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Llewelyn and Margaret (Callahan) Muusmann, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 60 years. Eleanor was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in Hartford, class of 1960, and was later employed for over 20 years by Computer Processing Institute (CPI) in East Hartford where she retired as an Information Analyst Department Head. A devout catholic, Eleanor was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church in East Hartford. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, solving word puzzles, retail shopping where she could get the best deal, and was an avid loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn Huskies. She was proud of her Irish heritage loving everything Irish, while being a proud wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her beloved husband Peter, Eleanor is survived by two sons, Scott M. Lima and his domestic partner, Cindy Collet of Georgetown, KY, Jason P. Lima of Enfield; and four adored grandchildren, Taylor Lima, Paul Lima, David Lima, and Megan Lima all of Enfield. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Daniel Lima of Vernon; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Mendes and her husband Avelino of Somerset, MA, Donna Weir and her husband Alan of Fort Meyers Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Friday (November 22, 2024) at 9 am from the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish, Main Street/Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (November 21, 2024) from 4 – 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eleanor’s name ma y be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
