Edward F. Schultz, 95, of Apopka, Florida and formerly of Glastonbury, passed away on August 31, 2015. Born in Hartford on July 24, 1920, he was the son of the late Anna (Fiala) Schultz. He was raised in East Hartford and graduated from East Hartford High School. Eddie was a hard worker, becoming an entrepreneur at a young age, as the founder, president and owner of E.F. Schultz Transportation Company in East Hartford which was associated with Budweiser and Hartford Distributors for over 30 years. Eddie had many interests. He owned several race cars that won numerous trophies at Riverside Speedway. He was a boating enthusiast and raced his boats on the Connecticut River giving rides to his friends. He traveled to many countries and visited many states in his motor home. He was a member of the Glastonbury Square Dance Club and in his later years a member of the Glastonbury Retreads.
Eddie is survived by his sister Jessie Schultz Sjoblad of East Hampton; several nieces and nephews: Steven Sjoblad of Glastonbury, Lynda Allen of Wilbraham, MA, Barbara Nickerson of Holly Lake Ranch, TX, Pamela Reynolds of Granite Bay, CA, Sandra Davis of Glastonbury, Donald Schultz of Vernon and good friend David Lynch of Manchester. Eddie also leaves his grandson Robert DelMastro and his wife Cammie of Apopka, FL with whom he resided and was lovingly cared for. He is also survived by a daughter Sylvia Smith and her husband Lester of Apopka, FL, great-granddaughter Amanda and great-great granddaughters Emily and Jasmine. He was predeceased by his wife Betty Schultz, a brother Harry Schultz and a nephew John Schultz.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 24 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. A Memorial Service will begin at 6:30pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org).
