Edna Marie Charloult Volowski at the age of 93, widow of Vincent Edward Volowski, since May 5, 1999 of Salem, Maine, went home to be with God, passing away peacefully in her sleep on January 5, 2018 at Salmon Brook of Glastonbury, Connecticut after a brief illness.
Edna Volowski was born on November 9, 1924 in Caribou, Maine on the family farm to the late parents Thomas and Alice Charloult. Edna left Caribou at the age of 16 and came to Hartford, Connecticut during World War 2 to live on Ashley Street to work at the then Veederroot Company. She also had worked at Brown Thompson’s. After marrying Vincent Volowski, Edna went to live on Fendwick Street in Hartford.
Afterwards Edna went to live on Bidwell Avenue, Chapel Street, and Leichtner Drive where she worked cleaning apartments, offices, homes, and did cat sitting. After retiring in 1978, Edna devoted time to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved animals, and had a number of dogs, fish, and cats. She was a parishioner of Saint Christopher’s now Saint Edmund Campion’s Parish and supported organizations such as EWTN and the Mother Angelica.
She enjoyed country and western music, phone calls from her late brother Philip Charloult with greetings in Canadian French, collected fine art dolls and angels in her spare time. Edna Volowski will be most remembered for her welcoming and warm smile and her listening ear.
Besides her youngest daughter, Anne Marie Volowski of East Hartford, who misses her dearly, Edna is also survived by her oldest daughter, Diane Marshall and her husband Royce of North Carolina, brother Reginald and his wife Verna Charloult and their son of Vermont, grandchildren; Lisa Ann Bourqe of Windsor, John and his wife Tess Matusavitch of Windsor Locks, and Christine Matusavitch of Burlington, Vermont, great grandchildren; Marlyn Bourqe of Boston, Massachusetts, Mary Clare and Kyle Matusavitch of Windsor Locks. Special Nephew Roger Charloult and many very wonderful nieces and nephews, dear friends; Alberta Balda, Deacon Phil Goslin, many wonderful parishioner friends of Saint Christopher’s Campus, the wonderful caregivers at Salmon Brook, and Special pets; Cats Boo-Boo, Christopher, Elow, Francis, Julie.
Edna is predeceased by; son, Ronald Edward Volowski, Anne Marie Volowski’s longtime friend David Anthony Muszynski, brothers Joseph (Nevard) Charloultand his wife Anita, Clifford Charloult and his wife Mary May, Philip Charloult, sisters Orilla Turner, Lucian Cyr, John Turner, Romona Charloult, and Jennel Charloult.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Edmund Campion Parish, Saint Christopher’s Campus, at 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford, at 10:30AM on Friday, April 6, 2018. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
