Daniel Edward Mullen, 52, of East Hartford, loving husband of Theresa (Kotulski) Mullen, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday November 24, 2015. Born in Hartford on September 19, 1963 son of Charles Mullen and Francise (Provost) Goewey, he had been a resident of East Hartford for most of his life though Daniel did spend his younger years working on his family’s farm in Vermont. Daniel was an Air Force veteran, a dedicated NRA member and a proud supporter of the East Hartford Police and Fireman’s Association. Daniel’s passion for carpentry and construction started out in residential building and quickly progressed to commercial construction where he found his home for over 25 years at Musano Inc. in Wolcott. He would refer to himself as the “Neslo King”, which was the product he installed. It seemed like Daniel was always working whether it was at Musano Incorporated or his position as a maintenance supervisor at a condo association; however, any free time he had was spent on his property in New Hampshire that all referred to as “Camp Dan” . It was his refuge where he enjoyed the simple things in life like a good cigar and a bottle of Bourbon in the company of his good friends and family. He met many new friends in New Hampshire, including Sonny and Robin, who would always drive down on their quad when Dan arrived. Many a time, it would be just Daniel and his best friend, Marshall Barton, whom he referred to as his brother, who would take off a whim heading north. Daniel also had a love for all kinds of music and spent time relaxing listening to his favorite band, Pink Floyd, or going out to hear his friends play in local bands, including his favorite, The New Remains, where he reconnected and met so many new friends, including Holly White and Janick Sauve-Lorenzo whom became very close friends to all of us. Daniel met the love of his life, Theresa, when they were 17 years old while she was working as a waitress at Friendly’s. They were soul mates and best friends. Their love grew even stronger with the birth of their two daughters, whom he cherished. He was a wonderful husband, father, friend and provider to all that had the honor of knowing him. Daniel had a strong Christian faith, which came first in his daily life. There was no grey area with Daniel and whether it was religion or politics, he always stood true to what he believed. Daniel was a man of his word, as he expected from all. Daniel was a true friend. With just a phone call, he would be where every his help was needed. His life of was filled with joy and laughter and he will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his sister, Julianne, his brother-in-law, Raymond Kotulski, and his close friend, Todd Hurst.
