Daniel C. Cabral, Sr., 66, of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his home. Born in Azores, Portugal on June 19, 1952, a son of the late Manuel and Filomena (Chaves) Cabral, he had been a resident of the Hartford/East Hartford area for many years. Proud of his Portuguese heritage, Daniel served as a cook in the Portuguese Army, and continued several Portuguese traditions with his family. Prior to his retirement, Daniel was employed as a Groundskeeper for over twenty years by Trinity College in Hartford. An outdoorsman, Daniel enjoyed camping, maintaining his yard and being in the confines of his home. He also was a simple gentleman who loved cooking for family, friends, and the holidays.
Daniel is survived by two devoted sons, Jonathan Cabral of Hartford, Daniel C. Cabral, Jr. and his wife, Katharine (Rankin), of South Windsor; his children’s mother, Gilda Leonardo of Hartford; a sister, Maria Cabral Leonardo of East Hartford; two adored grandsons, Tiago Michael Cabral and Leo Daniel Cabral both of South Windsor; a niece, a nephew, and several cousins, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Thursday (October 4th) at 9 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, corner of Main Street/Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday (October 3rd) from 4 – 7 pm.
