Clover Cecile Russell, 82, of Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at St. Mary Home in West Hartford. Born in Lime Hall, St. Ann, Jamaica on February 18, 1941, a daughter of the late Alpheus and Beryl (Wollaston) Russell, she had been a resident of Hartford for over 30 years. Clover earned her Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s Teachers College in Jamaica. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years by The Hartford Insurance Company in Hartford as an Executive Administrative Assistant.
Clover was a longtime faithful member of the Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford, where she participated in their knitting club. She also volunteered for several years in the area serving lunch to the people in need. Clover was an avid reader, especially of the Bible and would often proclaim quotes from the bible. She liked tennis, dancing, traveling, solving word puzzles, watching Tom Brady play football, cooking and entertaining her family and friends. Most of all, she was a proud dedicated worker, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend who cherished her time with everyone.
Clover is survived by two sisters, Kathleen Mitchell and her husband John of Bamboo, St. Ann, Jamaica, Patricia Russell of Kingston, Jamaica; many adored nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, former co-workers, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 11 am at Immanuel Congregational Church, 10 Woodland Street, Hartford with the Rev. Dr. Jay Terbush officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Section E-Extension), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Clover’s name may be made to the Book of Remembrance of Immanuel Congregational Church, 10 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
