Christine B. Richard

Christine Richard, 87, of East Hartford, beloved wife of 67 years to Wallace Richard, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at St Francis Hospital. Born in Lewiston, ME on Christmas day, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine (Soucy) Benedix.

Christine raised her children as a devout member of St Mary's Church and was a member of the Joan of Arc Mother's Circle and St Mary's Women's Guild. Christine was an excellent dancer and in her free time loved playing cards with Wallace and her granddaughters. She was a great cook and would whip up a meal at any time whenever someone came to visit; we will miss her Crouton at Christmas. She had a magical smile that would light up a room, and was incredibly generous, willing to do anything for family and friends. Christine always saw the good in people.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 6 children: her son Roger and wife Pauline Richard of East Hartford, her son Thomas and wife Michele Richard of South Windsor, her daughter Brenda and husband John Golias of Marlborough, her son Bill Richard of East Hartford, her son Jim and wife Joleen Richard of Bolton, and her daughter Tina and husband Matthew Giuffre of Bolton; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 24, from 5-8pm at the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT. Funeral Services for Christine will be held on Friday, July 25 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor, CT.
