Charles J. Cipolla, 80, of Old Lyme and East Hartford, loving husband of Alma Louise (Auger) Cipolla, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Hartford Hospital with his caring wife by his side. Born in Hartford on October 22, 1928, a son of the late Emilio and Lucia Cipolla, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford along with Point O' Woods Beach Community in Old Lyme for the past fifty years. Charles was a graduate of East Hartford High School-Class of 1946 where he starred on the football team. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Charlie was a retired firefighter for the town of East Hartford for many years and was the owner and operator of Charles J. Cipolla Concrete for over forty years. Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony Cipolla, Peter Cipolla, and Joseph Cipolla; and three sisters, Dora Vetrano, Jenny Macchi, and Phyllis DeLeo. Along with his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Charles is survived by two adored daughters, Cheryl A. Cipolla of Scituate, MA, Cindy L. Cipolla and James D. Seeley of Wethersfield; a brother, Samuel Cipolla of East Hartford; two sisters, Lillian Tuzzolino and Winifred Terragna both of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
