Carmela “Millie” (Napoletano) Kozikis, 86, of East Hartford, loving wife of 56 years of the late Jonas Kozikis, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, May 1, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Airola, province of Benevento, Italy on August 11, 1936, a daughter of the late Luigi and Frances (Demasi) Napoletano, she had been a resident of East Hartford since 1954. She was a graduate of Windsor High School in Windsor, VT, class of 1954. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 26 years by Travelers Insurance Company, Hartford as a Key Punch Operator, and was a longtime member of the Travelers Retirees Club.
A devout catholic, Carmela was a faithful communicant of the former Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford and Our Lady of Peace Church in East Hartford. A talented crafts individual, Carmela enjoyed all crafts, especially knitting and crocheting, and was the former owner and operator of M & J Creations in East Hartford. Most of all, Carmela was a proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her time with her entire family, especially when she hosted holidays for them.
Carmela is survived by her daughter, Rose M. Parker and her husband Arthur of East Hartford; three sons, John D. Kozikis and his fiancée Connie of East Hartford, James L. Kozikis and his wife Jennifer of Suffield, Paul K. Kozikis and his wife Julie of Vernon and Hobe Sound, FL; twelve special grandchildren, William Parker and his wife Brenda of East Hartford, Jennifer Edmonds and her husband John of East Harford, Kenny Parker of East Hartford, Leeann Kozikis Eubanks of Watauga, TX, Jeffrey Kozikis and his wife Gaylen of Manchester, Joshua Kozikis of West Suffield, Jessica Kozikis of West Suffield, Christina Nieves of Ellington, Heather Kozikis of Ellington, Sarah Kozikis of Vernon, Patrick Scribner of Dedham, MA, Timothy Scribner of Burlington, VT; eight adored great-grandchildren, Christopher, Kenneth II, Justin, Jason, Aiden, Sadiella, William Jr., and Emmett. She also leaves a brother, Frank Napoletano and his wife Linda of East Hartford; a sister, Mary Brady and her husband David of Middletown; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents she was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Napoletano of Michigan.
Funeral service will be Tuesday (May 9th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady of Peace Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Buckland Cemetery, (Section F), Manchester. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Tuesday morning. Carmela’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday (May 8th) from 4 – 7 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
