Caleb Jordan Martin, 26, of East Hartford passed away unexpectedly from complications of the coronavirus on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on October 11, 1993 he had resided in the East Hartford area for many years. Recently, Caleb had worked for Stop & Shop at their warehouse. Caleb was a talented football player and he loved watching and following the sport of football. He also enjoyed writing music and poetry and singing “hip hop” songs. Caleb was well known for his playful nature, his smile, and witty sense of humor. Most of all, he was a proud father who received great joy from being with his son and Jenna.
Caleb is survived by his mother, Lisa Marie Martin; his father, Michael Grate; his son, Caleb Martin, Jr.; his brother, Connor Martin; and his girlfriend, Jenna Ortiz all of East Harford. He also leaves his maternal grandmother, Marie L. Kirkley Bey of Hartford; his maternal grandfather, Fred Martin and his wife, Christine, of Windsor; his paternal grandfather, Ben Grate of Hartford; a special aunt, Kelly Kirkley Bey of Hartford; a special uncle, Fred Martin, Jr. and his wife, Bette, of Kentucky; two half-sisters, Candice Grate and Shaquonna Grate both of Hartford; several other aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Lillie Mae Grate.
Due to the current health crisis, private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
