Born in Hartford on June 12, 1934, a daughter of the late Henry F. and Margaret (Moulton) Cummings, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Betty was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1952 and Bay Path College where she earned her Associates Degree. Prior to her retirement Betty was employed as a Legal Office Manager by Furniss and Quinn for 20 years.
Betty was an avid gardener, receiving the town’s Beautification Award for her beautiful landscaping around her home. Her hobbies included sewing and craftwork, making hairbows and pajamas enjoyed by her grandchildren and many others. Most of all, Betty loved her family while cherishing her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend.
Along with her beloved husband Jack, Betty is survived by her three adoring children, Stuart Harris and his wife Madeline, John V. Harris and his wife Bonita, Wendy Harris Willis and her husband James, all of East Hartford; eight special grandchildren, Melissa Holderbach and her husband Brad, Alison Sykes and her husband Jon, Danielle Willis, Emily Burgin and her husband Hardie, Brian Harris and his wife Katie, Jonathan Harris, Julia Harris and Benjamin Willis; and nine adored great-grandchildren, Paxon and Corbin Holderbach, Paityn and Clay Sykes, Colton, Charlotte and Olivia Burgin and John and Rebecca Harris. She also leaves her sister Nancy Peowski of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and dear friends.
Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
