Aurore M Saucier

Aurore Marie (Cormier) Saucier, age 98, beloved wife of the late Clarence H. Saucier, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024. Born in Grand Isle, Maine on December 30, 1925 the eldest daughter of Louis D. and Leona M. (Chasse) Cormier, she grew up in Maine and made her home in East Hartford for 67 years.

Aurore enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cake decorating, gardening, bingo, visiting family, and traveling. She enjoyed trips home and abroad, including a trip to the Vatican and seeing Pope John Paul II. Following Clarence’s retirement, they travelled cross-country in an RV and visited several national parks. Aurore was a breast cancer survivor. She was a member of St Edmond Campion Catholic Church in East Hartford.

Aurore is survived by daughter Sharon Simmons (Mark) of Washington, Utah; son Carl Saucier (Karen) of Connecticut; grandchildren Veronica Machnig (Eric), Matthew Saucier (Nichole) and great grandchildren Elizabeth, Kelly Mae and Henry of East Hartford; brothers Leon and Roger Cormier of Southington; and many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Aurore is predeceased by brothers Lionel, Carl, Fernand, Aurele and Francis, and sisters Alice Donetta, Annette (Michaud), Fernande (Parent) and Jeanne (Dumond) and Rachel (Aldieri).

Her family would like to thank the staff at Marlborough Health & Rehabilitation Center for their care of Aura during her stay with special thanks to the staff of Unit B North. A thank you is also extended to the Masonicare team who cared for her.

Family and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 8:30-10am at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am, at St Edmund Campion Church, 538 Brewer St East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery.
