Ann Marie “Annie” (Alleano) Plaksa, 83, of East Hartford, loving wife of 25 years of the late John Plaksa, peacefully passed away with her beloved family by her side on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Born in Hartford on December 31, 1939, a daughter of the late Santo J. and Lucy (Buccheri) Alleano, Sr., she had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life. Annie was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1958. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Word Processor for over 25 years by AMICA Insurance Company. After retiring from AMICA, she went to work at Southern Auto in East Windsor for over 13 years. Annie loved fishing and the outdoors, as she took great pride in working in her yard with cutting and trimming the lawn and cleaning her swimming pool. She liked football and was an avid fan of the New York Giants and New York Yankees. She also enjoyed shopping and going to the casino. Most of all, she was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished spending time with her family.
Annie is survived by a son, Michael Heene and his wife Lisa of Sun Lakes, AZ; two brothers, Robert Alleano and his wife Margaret of East Hartford, Angelo Alleano and his wife Joann of South Windsor; and her sister-in-law and friend, Virginia “Ginny” (Marques) Alleano of East Hartford. She also leaves one grandson, Michael Heene of Chicago, IL; several nieces and nephews, especially Lisa and Ray Bell, Karen Alleano, Stephanie and Craig Cavalier, Angelo Alleano, Jr.; several grandnieces and grandnephews, especially Addison and Jack Bell, Brielle Cavalier, AJ and Allison Alleano; several cousins and dear friends. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Santo J. Alleano, Jr. of East Hartford.
Funeral service will be Saturday (December 23rd) at 10 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section H), East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning from 9 – 10 am.
